The Guelph Lawn Bowling Club is celebrating its 185th birthday next month; one and all are being invited to stop by.

The club will be marking the anniversary with cake and refreshments but, most importantly, lawn bowling.

It's inviting residents of Guelph to join them for an open house, where anyone can learn to play for free.

If you have never bowled, the club will show you how to do it and provide all the equipment.

Just remember to wear flat shoes and bring sun protection, the club advises.

The event takes place on Saturday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Guelph Lawn Bowling Club is at 114 Gordon St. (beside The Boathouse Tea Room).

You can find club info online at guelphlawnbowling.com.
