The Guelph Nighthawks fell to 0-2 on the young Canadian Elite Basketball Association season Saturday with a 102-98 loss to the Hamilton Honey Badgers.
The same two teams play Monday night in Hamilton.
The Nighthawks will host Hamilton in their home opener on Friday. No fans are allowed.
Cody John had 23 points for the Honey Badgers (3-1), who hit 14 three pointers in the game. The Hamilton bench outscored Guelph's 41-13, with Hamilton winding up with five players in double digits.
Hamilton led by one point at the half.
Cat Barber led the way for the Nighthawks with 30 points on 54 per cent shooting. Justin Jackson had 23 points and Isaiah Reese had 22 and six rebounds.
“I thought we got a lot of people involved today but when you get opportunities you have to make them,” said head coach Charles Kissi in a release. “We have to capitalize and finish.”
