Jacob Underwood’s two-out triple scored a pair of runs in the top of the 10th as Hamilton stunned Guelph 6-4 in Game 5 of the IBL quarter-final Friday night at David E. Hastings Stadium.

The seventh-place Cardinals will face first-place London in the second round, starting Saturday night at Labatt Park.

Underwood’s hit capped a comeback that started in the sixth inning when Hamilton scored its first run after falling behind 4-0. The Cards tied it in the seventh on Luis Jean’s bases-loaded triple and took the lead for good when Underwood connected on a 2-1 pitch from Jeifry Nunez, his third hit of the game.

Anthony Buonaiuto went 2-for-4 with a run for the Cards, who won the first two games of the series and then lost the next two by a combined score of 34-11.

Corben Peters (2-0) earned the win with three scoreless innings of relief. He walked two and fanned four. Sam Turcotte started and went four innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Nunez (0-2) was charged with the loss after giving up five runs on seven hits in four innings. He walked three and struck out eight.

Starter Claudio Custodio struck out 13 over six innings. He allowed a run on three hits and a walk.

Justin Interisano homered and drove in three for the Royals, who finished the regular season with 19 more wins than the Cards. Malik Collymore went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
