The Guelph Royals will have former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey in its lineup this year.

The Intercounty Baseball League team announced this week that the Mississauga native has signed with the club.

Pompey, 29, was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 16th round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft out of high school.

He appeared in 34 games for the Blue Jays in the 2015 regular season, he batted .223 with two home runs, six RBI, and five stolen bases. Pompey was on the Blue Jays postseason roster, appearing primarily as a pinch-runner. In five postseason games, he recorded a single in his lone at-bat with four stolen bases.

He would go on to play parts of three seasons with the Blue Jays, playing in 64 games.

The Royals open their 2022 season on Saturday, May 21 at home versus the Toronto Maple Leafs at Hastings Stadium.
