Guelph Storm goalie invited to World Junior selection camp

Guelph Storm goaltender Nico Daws has been invited to the Team Canada selection camp for the World Junior Hockey Championships.

Daws, who turns 19 on Dec. 22, is one of four goaltenders invited, joining Joel Hofer of the Portland Winterhawks, Hunter Jones of the Peterborough Petes and Olivier Rodrigue of the Moncton Wildcats.

The selection camp takes place Dec. 9 to Dec. 12 in Oakville and includes games against a team of Canadian University all-stars.

Daws, undrafted in the NHL, has been the top goaltender in the Ontario Hockey League this season. He leads the league in goals-against average (2.12) and save percentage (.936). His record is 11-2-1-3.

The World Junior Hockey Championships take place from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in the Czech Repubic.
