The Guelph Storm has traded second-year winger Mason Primeau to the North Bay Battalion.
In exchange the Storm receives a pair of second round draft picks, in 2020 and 2022.
Primeau, a six-foot-five, 182-pound centre, was a second round pick (22nd overall) of the Storm in 2017.
Primeau, 17, had three goals and four assists in 20 games this season. In his rookie campaign he had seven goals and six assists in 60 games.
“He’s a big guy, a big centreman,” Stan Butler, director of hockey operations and head coach of North Bay, told BayToday.ca. “We feel that he can fit in well with our other players.
“When we got second-round picks in trades last year, the plan was to use them ourselves or to trade them for players who could help us. That’s what we’re doing here.”
It had been rumoured for the past couple of weeks that Primeau would be on the move soon, having requested a trade.
He had spent much of the season on the Storm's fourth line.
“On behalf of our organization, we appreciate Mason’s commitment during his time with the Storm, and wish him the best of luck moving forward with this new opportunity,” Storm general manager George Burnett said in a press release.
