General Manager and head coach George Burnett announced today that the Guelph Storm have received a commitment from Matthew Poitras and his family and have signed a standard player agreement with the club.

Poitras, a 5’10, 160 lbs forward from Brooklin, Ontario, was the 12th overall pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection.

“Matthew is very skilled and an offensive threat every time he's on the ice," said Burnett. “He is extremely competitive and has an elite vision with the puck. We are excited to officially welcome Matthew to our club."

The 2004-born Poitras is a product of the Whitby Wildcats Minor Midget AAA program in the ETAMMHL.  During his minor midget AAA season in 2019-20, Forster posted 66 goals, 75 assists and 141 points for the Wildcats. His 75 assists were the most in the ETAMMHL this year.

“I’m super excited to make it official and be a part of such a great organization,” said Poitras. “I can't wait to get on the ice and get things started in Guelph."
