Guelph Storm skates to decisive road win

Jake Karabela and Jett Luchanko each record three points in Guelph's 5-1 win over Windsor

WINDSOR – The Windsor Spitfires scored first, but it was all Guelph Storm after that Thursday night in Windsor.

A.J. Spellacy scored a shorthanded goal just over eight minutes into the game to put the Spits up 1-0, but Guelph scored the next five unanswered to skate away with a 5-1 victory.

The win leaves Guelph tied for sixth in the Western Conference. Guelph clinched a playoff spot the night before when Sarnia lost.

Jake Karabela had two goals and an assist for the Storm and Jett Luchanko had three assists. Braeden Bowman, Michael Buchinger and Quinn Beauchesne, with his first in the OHL, had Guelph's other goals.

Brayden Gillespie made 20 saves in the Storm net.

Guelph hosts Saginaw Friday and Kitchener Sunday this weekend.
