Guelph United FC secures a 2-0 victory over visiting North Mississauga SC for their fourth win in a row.

Guelph United is looking in fine form as they earned another victory in front of their home crowd on a hot Friday evening. The opening minutes of the match saw back and forth action with minimal scoring opportunities as both teams tested one another. Guelph would be the first to break through as Dion Stergiotis launched a ball across the field to Jack Sears who beat visiting Goalkeeper Matthew Mattila down low. Guelph would go into half-time with a one goal lead over North Mississauga.

The second half kicked off with the return of Marcel Zajac from an ankle injury and what a return it was! Zajac would score Guelph’s second goal of the evening just five minutes later at the 50 minute mark. The game finished 2-0 and Guelph walked away with the all important three points.

The game also saw the return of well-loved Guelph goalkeeper Syatik Artemenko from a shoulder injury which had kept him out of the lineup recently. He had a strong game, including an amazing save in the first half to keep North Mississauga off the board and earn a clean sheet.

Guelph now hits the road for a series of away games as the regular season begins to wrap up. The team is sitting in fourth in the league with only six games remaining, including their final home game on Aug. 12 against Darby FC.
