Gueph Storm's Chayka taken in second round of NHL draft

Guelph Storm defenceman Daniil Chayka was taken in the second round, 38th overall, of the National Hockey League entry draft on Saturday by the Vegas Golden Knights.

Chayka was the 12th defenceman taken in the draft.

University of Michigan defenceman Owen Power was the first overall pick Friday night to the Buffalo Sabres.

Storm property Sasha Pastujov, who plays with the United States USNTDP program, was the second pick of the third round by Anaheim. He is committed to Michigan.

Chayka played for three teams in Russia this past season, tallying two goals and five assists in 26 games. He also played for the Russian national junior team.

In 2019-2020 for the Storm he had 11 goals and 23 assists.
