The Guelph Nighthawks fell to 2-8 on the Canadian Elite Basketball Season with a heartbreaking 80-78 loss to the Hamilton Honey Badgers Tuesday night at the Sleeman Centre.

With the winning target score set at 80, Guelph's Cat Barber put Guelph up 78-77 with a free throw, only to see Hamilton's Lindell Wigginton win the game with a three pointer on the ensuing possession.

Ahmed Hill led Guelph with 24 points and Barber finished with 23.

Hamilton (9-3) was led by Cody John with 24 points.

Guelph led 43-36 at the half.

The game was played in front of roughly 500 fans.

The Nighthawks visit the Niagara River Lions Friday night before returning home to play Niagara Sunday at 2 p.m.
