Make it nine straight losses for the Guelph Royals.

The Royals were doubled 8-4 by the Brantford Red Sox Saturday afternoon at Hastings Stadium and now sit all alone in last place in the Intercounty Baseball League standings with a 4-16 record.

The Red Sox scored in each of the first two innings to lead 2-0, then busted the game open with five runs in the top of the fifth.

The Royals made the score more respectable with three runs in their final at bat.

Guelph managed just eight hits in the game, all of them singles, two of them by Trevor Nyp.

Richard Gill took the loss on the mound, surrendering seven runs, five of them earned, on 12 hits in five innings of work.

Guelph hosts London on Tuesday.
