GUELPH MARLINS AQUATIC CLUB

The Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club (GMAC) saw its team of 12 and under competitive swimmers head to London, Ont. for the weekend of Jan. 20-21 to compete in London’s 12 and under Celebration meet.
This was an overnight team travel meet which allowed for swimmers to stay in a hotel with coaches and chaperones and experience a night away from their families.
Laura Nicholls, the head coach of the Guelph Marlins and a two-time Olympian, expressed her satisfaction with the event. She mentioned that it was a great way for swimmers to bond with their teammates as an overnight team travel and put in some great racing times.
The Marlins swam away with 19 gold medals, 23 silver medals, 36 bronze medals, 15 fourth place ribbons, 21 fifth place ribbons, 17 sixth place ribbons, 14 seventh place ribbons and 13 eighth place ribbons. Honourable mention to Caryss Love and Kye Hynes achieving their first regional times standard at this meet.
Looking ahead, the Guelph Marlins will host their Winter Skills and Thrills meet to be held at the UofG pool Feb. 4, providing another exciting opportunity for competition for the team’s precompetitive groups: Blue Marlins, Jr & Sr Marlins House League.
