FLINT - Jacob Oster made 43 saves in the Guelph Storm net Satuday night as they downed the Flint Firebirds 5-1.
Oster made 43 saves, 16 of those in the opening period, as Guelph downed the Firebirds for the first time this season.
The game could very well be an opening round playoff preview, as the two teams would meet in the first round should the playoffs start today.
Sasha Pastujov scored the lone goal of the first 40 minutes, beating Flint goaltender Luke Cavallin on a wraparound at 13:37 of the opening frame.
But the Storm exploded for four goals in the third as Valentin Zhugin, Braeden Bowman, Brayden Guy and Matt Poitras all scored.
Brennan Othmann spoiled Oster's shutout bid at 4:19 of the third period.
Guelph plays in Saginaw on Sunday, in Windsor on Thursday then back at home against Windsor on Friday.
