Despite its best efforts, the Guelph Royals just couldn't out slug the most potent offense in the IBL Sunday afternoon.

The Toronto Maple Leafs came away with a 14-10 win at Christie Pits, thanks to timely hitting.

The top of the Royals order led the way, as Brando Leroux, Corey Morro and Ethan Hammond combined for nine of Guelph's 16 hits. The trio knocked in seven RBI.

Kyle Thomas had a rough outing for Guelph, surrendering eight runs on 11 hits in 4.2 innings of work.

The former Detroit Tigers prospect struck out two batters and walked a pair, but took the loss.

The Leafs had a pair of six-run innings, and got home runs from Justin Marra, Johnathan Solazzo and Jesse Hodges in the win.

The Royals had a three-game winning streak snapped in the process, falling to 4-8 on the season.

Guelph will host the league-leading Welland Jackfish Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. at Hastings Stadium.
