Second period struggles sink Storm in Sudbury

Sudbury Wolves score three in the middle period on their way to a 5-2 win over Guelph

SUDBURY – The Sudbury Wolves scored three unanswered goals in the second period and went on to down the Guelph Storm 5=2 Friday night in Sudbury.

Kieron Walton of the Wolves had two of those goals, just 27 seconds apart, midway through the period.

Guelph jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first period on Jett Luchanko's power play goal, but the Wolves dominated the first 40 minutes of the game.

Guelph came alive in the third and made it a 4-2 game on a Leo Serlin goal with 11 minutes remaining, but the Storm couldn't get any closer, with Nathan Villeneuve icing things with an empty net goal for the hosts.

Brayden Gillespie made 28 saves in the Storm net.

Guelph hosts Ottawa at 2 p.m. Sunday.
