FLINT – Rookie import goaltender Damian Slavic made 26 saves in his OHL debut and Charlie Paquette scored both goals as the Guelph Storm (4-2-0-0) downed the Flint Firebirds (1-5-0-0) 2-1 Saturday night.

Paquette's game-winner came with just four seconds left in regulation and the Storm on the power play.

Slavik, an 18-year-old drafted by the Storm in the second round of this year's import draft, was making his first start after Brayden Gillespie started the team's first five games.

Flint opened the scoring at 6:54 of the second period, finishing off a two-on-one rush with a one-timer past Slavic.

Paquette tied it up three minutes later, finishing off a pretty backhand saucer pass from Vilmer Alriksson, one-timing it past Firebirds goaltender Nathan Day.

Guelph went to the power play for the final 18 seconds of the third period when Max Namestnikov was hooked. After Jake Karabela won the ensuing faceoff, Jett Luchanko found Paquette all alone in front of Day and he made no mistake on the game winner.

Guelph's next game is Friday at home against Barrie.
