Same two teams meet in Guelph Friday night

WINDSOR – The Windsor Spitfires scored on all three of its shootout attempts as they downed the Guelph Storm 4-3 Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.

It was conference-leading Spitfire's 11th consecutive win overall and its 14th consecutive win on home ice.

The loss snapped Guelph's three-game win streak.

Guelph scored on one of its first two shootout attempts.

The Storm led early, getting goals in the opening 7:13 from Brayden Guy and Sasha Pastujov, with Matt Poitras assisting on both tallies.

Daniel D'Amico and Will Cuylie scored to tie the game before the end of the first, then Wyatt Johnson put them ahead midway through the second.

Valentin Zhugin, on a breakaway, tied the game at the 1o-minute mark of the third.

Owen Bennett played net for Guelph, making 27 saves.

Two of Windsor's goals came on the power play, while Guelph did not have a power play in the game.

The same two teams meet in Guelph Friday night.
