NORTH BAY – The North Bay Battalion scored three times in the final nine minutes of the third period to down the Guelph Storm 4-2 Thursday night.

Kyle McDonald took advantage of an equipment malfunction on Storm goaltender Jacob Oster, whose left pad was flapping after a strap came undone, to put North Bay up 2-1, then Dalyn Wakely took advantage of a Gavin Grundner miscue just over a minute later to make it 3-1.

Guelph's Jake Murray made it 3-2 with a power play goal, but a shorthanded tally by North Bay's Nic Sima less than a minute later rounded out the scoring.

Sasha Pastujov, on the power play, had Guelph's other goal.

North Bay outshot Guelph 35-29.

The Storm plays in Sudbury on Friday night then hosts Sarnia at home Sunday at 4 p.m.
