Four locals to compete at Pan American Games

Korey Jarvis, Andrea Seccafien, Kaleigh Rafter and Ashlan Best will all be representing Canada in Lima, Peru

Four local athletes are expected to represent Canada at the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru at the end of this month.

Wrestler Korey Jarvis will be competing in his third Pan American Games. The Gueph Wrestling Club member and former University of Guelph Gryphon won silver in 2015 and finished seventh in 2011.

Bishop Macdonell high school grad Andrea Seccafien will compete in the 5,000 metre event, the same event she represented Canada in at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Sprinter Ashlan Best will be on the women's 4 X 100 metre relay team. Best, a Centennial high school grad, is on an athletic scholarship to Stanford University where she competes in the 400m, 200m, 100m and indoor 60m.

Kaleigh Rafter will be making her fourth appearance at the Pan American Games on the women's softball team. She was also on the 2008 Olympic Team.

The games take place in Lima, Peru, from July 26 to Aug. 11.
