Canadian Championship soccer final no stranger to dramatic finishes

TORONTO — The Canadian Championship final is no stranger to dramatic finishes.

Toronto striker Sebastian Giovinco, with his second of the night, scored in the 95th minute for a 2-1 second-leg win over Montreal for a 3-2 aggregate victory in 2017. The ensuing celebration at the south end of BMO Field saw the diminutive Italian and his teammates swallowed up in a sea of delirious fans.

In 2016, Toronto's Will Johnson provided the heroics with a 95th-minute goal in the second leg in Vancouver. The Whitecaps won the game 2-1 but the final ended in a 2-2 aggregate tie and TFC lifted the Voyageurs Cup on away goals.

In the 2014 final, Brazilian midfielder Felipe's 91st-minute goal lifted Montreal to a 1-0 second-leg win and 2-1 aggregate triumph over Toronto.

In 2013, Hassoun Camara's 84th-minute goal for the Impact tied the second leg 2-2 in Vancouver after a scoreless tie in Montreal. The Impact won on away goals.

Reggie Lambe's 83rd-minute strike in 2012 gave Toronto a 2-1 aggregate win over visiting Vancouver. Eric Hassli had scored in the 91st minute to lift Vancouver to a 1-1 tie in the first leg.
