17-year-old charged with robbery

On March 12, 2020 at 8 p.m., a teenage male was browsing jewelry with the assistance of an employee at a store located inside the Stone Road Mall in the City of Guelph. The employee was showing the male a necklace when he suddenly grabbed it and tried to rip it from the employee’s hands. The employee pulled back and broke free of the male, at which point the male fled on foot.

At 8:01 p.m., Stone Road Mall security located the male just outside the store and the Guelph Police Service was notified. The male was subsequently arrested.

A 17-year-old male from Toronto has been charged with robbery with intent.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on March 13.
