Guelph police responded to 22 collisions during Tuesday’s first winter storm of the year, including two involving the same driver just over five hours apart.

Minor injuries were reported in three collisions.

At 2:30 p.m. a resident of Vancouver Drive reported a pickup truck had come to a stop on her front lawn after the driver lost control and knocked down a sign. An officer spoke to the male driver, who was sent on his way without being charged.

Just before 8 p.m., the same driver called police to report he had been involved in another collision. This time he lost control on Meyer Drive, left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. A 51-year-old Guelph man is charged with careless driving.
