Guelph police are investigating after a series of break and enters caused more than $28,000 in damage to two west end businesses.

Approximately 9:30 a.m. Thursday, police were called to a business in a plaza on Silvercreek Parkway North near Willow Road. Investigation revealed a suspect or suspects had broken into the plaza’s maintenance room, then smashed a hole through a cinder block wall to gain access into one of the businesses.

Five large holes were smashed in the wall of that business in an attempt to gain access to an adjacent business. While no physical entry was gained into the second business, the suspect or suspects were able to reach through the holes and steal more than $8,000 worth of product.

The total damage to the maintenance room and two businesses is more than $28,000.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Chris Cheung at 519-824-1212, ext. 7435, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
