COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON - Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) always aims to make the roads safe for everyone and this holiday season they're hitting their mark.

While this year's Festive Ride Campaign runs through to Jan 2, 2019 there won't be any procrastination. Members are out in full force and in the first half, here's what's happened. (Nov. 23 - Dec. 12, 2018)

Of the 95 reported collisions there have been 82 property damage only collisions, 12 collisions resulting in injuries and one fatal collision. Two of these collisions where impacted by drug or alcohol usage.

15 warn range (50-80mg/100mL blood) suspensions, 10 impaired/over 80mg/100mL of blood charges and 53 RIDE programs initiated with thousands of drivers engaged.

If you're a driver in Wellington County expect to see OPP initiating contact with users and reducing the number of impaired drivers. And while traditionally we think of alcohol impairing a driver's ability, let's not forget that other drugs like marihuana or prescription medicine can also compromise someone's ability to drive.

Be a good neighbour and call 911 immediately if you suspect someone is driving impaired. You could end up saving a life.
