68-year-old man seriously injured in assault

An arrest has been made and a 40-year-old man is facing multiple charges as a result

A Guelph male is in stable condition in hospital following an assault at a residence early Saturday.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday the Guelph Police Service was called to a home in the area of Grange Road and Watson Parkway North. A 68-year-old male reported being assaulted, resulting in serious head injuries.

The responsible male, who was known to the victim, had left the residence in a taxi before police arrived. He was later arrested outside the City of Guelph with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police.

A 40-year-old male is charged with aggravated assault and two counts of breaching a release order. He was held for a bail hearing Sunday.
