77-year-old dies in Mapleton tractor rollover

TOWN OF MAPLETON - On June 20, 2021 at approximately 6:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Mapleton Fire/Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services responded to a serious single vehicle rollover on the Fourteenth Line in the Town of Mapleton.

Investigation revealed that the operator of the tractor was cutting the grass in the ditch along the roadway when it rolled down the steep embankment and pinned them underneath.

The operator, Gordon Thring, 77 years old of Alma, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Members of the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) assisted Wellington officers with the collision investigation.

A section of the Fourteenth Line was closed for the investigation and has since reopened.
