Guelph police are investigating after an alarm scared off two burglars at a local business, police say.

Police were called Wednesday to a business in the area of Edinburgh Road South and Municipal Street. Two males entered the business approximately 5:30 a.m. Tuesday by breaking the handle off a back door.

The males were inside less than 30 seconds before the audible alarm sounded, causing them to flee. Both were wearing all black with their hoods up and faces covered by masks. Damage to the business was estimated at $300.
