A Guelph woman faces impaired driving and stunt driving charges following an early Saturday morning traffic stop.

Patrolling officers spotted a Toyota SUV travelling 107 km/h on Gordon Street, near Clairfields Drive West, in a posted 50 km/h zone, shortly after midnight, explains a police news release. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was observed to have “slightly slurred speech.”

Asked to step away from the vehicle, the driver was “unsteady on her feet” and refused several times to provide a breath sample, complying only after the consequences of refusing were explained to her, the release states.

A 48-year-old woman is charged with impaired driving, refusing to comply with a breath demand, speeding and stunt driving.

In addition to the charges, her vehicle was automatically impounded for two weeks and her driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.
