Alleged thief busted after store staff point him out to police

While police were investigating the theft of a $6,600 bracelet from a Stone Road Mall business on Wednesday, staff reportedly spotted the suspect walking by and pointed him out to police, leading to an arrest.

Officers stopped the man and recovered the bracelet, a police news release explains. A search subsequent to arrest revealed several items of clothing that had been taken from stores within the mall.

A 29-year-old Guelph man is charged with theft over $5,000, three counts of theft under $5,000 and four counts of breaching a probation order.
