Guelph police want to hear from anyone that recognizes the man, or jacket, in this photo taken from a security camera.

Guelph police are hoping a suspected burglar’s distinctive camouflage coat gives him away.

Just after 11 p.m. Thursday, police were called to a business on Woodlawn Road West near Nicklin Road after a passerby noted the business's front door was smashed and a bicycle appeared to be abandoned outside. Police arrived a few minutes later and confirmed a break and enter had occurred.

While reviewing surveillance video – which the suspect had unsuccessfully attempted to disable by unplugging it – police determined the suspect arrived on the bicycle approximately 10:20 p.m. and spent some time examining the premises before picking up a fire extinguisher which was outside and throwing it through the glass door.

The male rummaged through the store before fleeing on foot with an undetermined amount of product. He is described as a Caucasian male in his 20s, 5’10”, medium build, clean shaven with short hair. He was wearing a black and white camo jacket, grey baseball cap with a logo on the front and black pants.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone who recognizes the male is asked to call Const. Brandon Lohwinow at 519-824-1212, ext. 7204, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous tip for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
