An argument with his mother led to criminal charges and a weekend in jail for a Guelph male, report Guelph police.

Approximately 10 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to a disturbance in a parking lot on Gordon Street near Waterloo Avenue. They found a female in a vehicle with a broken window. She reported she had an argument with her adult son, who broke the window and fled on foot with her car keys.

The male was located a short distance away and the keys recovered. Investigation revealed the male was serving a conditional sentence, with a term he remain in his home daily between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. except for emergencies.

A 20-year-old Guelph male is charged with mischief, breaching probation and two counts of breaching a conditional sentence order. He will appear in bail court Monday.
