Arrest made in counterfeit US currency investigation

On March 28, 2020 at 12:08 p.m., an adult male used eight counterfeit United States $20 bills to purchase merchandise at a store located near the intersection of Imperial Road South and Paisley Road in the City of Guelph.

The incident was reported to the Guelph Police Service on March 31, at 11:18 a.m.

At 2:30 p.m., the male was found at a motel located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street, and was subsequently arrested.

A 33-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Fraud under $5,000
    •    Possession of counterfeit money
    •    Utter counterfeit money

He will appear in court on July 10.

The Guelph Police Service would like to remind everyone to be vigilant in inspecting the current bills they possess and all bills they receive in the future.
