A 31-year-old Arthur male faces a number of charges after a hit and run collision in Guelph on Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly before 5 p.m. police were notified of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Silvercreek Parkway North and Greengate Drive, states a Guelph Police Service news release. Both vehicles sustained “significant damage.”

One of the drivers reportedly fled the scene.

Their investigation led police to a Willow Road parking lot, where they reportedly found a male standing beside a damaged vehicle, which was bought in the summer of 2020 but not registered in his name or insured.

The male was also found to have been driving with a suspended licence, police say.

The accused is charged with failing to stop after a collision, as well as several violations of the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
