Guelph police are investigating after a female was caught on video Tuesday morning dumping a stolen van in a downtown parking lot.

City of Guelph bylaw officers were initially dispatched to a parking lot on Gordon Street near Waterloo Avenue for a vehicle parked across two parking spaces. Investigation revealed the Toyota van had been stolen a day earlier from a residence in the area of Edinburgh Road South and Wilsonview Avenue.

Video revealed the van entering the parking lot approximately 9 p.m. Monday. The female driver and lone occupant gathered some bags from the back seat area before leaving the parking lot several minutes later.

She was described as white, short, wearing a black sweatshirt, light blue jeans or leggings, a baseball cap and red sandals. She was carrying a dark backpack and disposable shopping bag.

The theft is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Frazer McCrindle at 519-824-1212, ext. 7327, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
