BMW clocked doing over twice speed limit on Victoria Road

A Guelph man walked home after he was caught Thursday driving more than double the speed limit.

Guelph police were conducting speed enforcement on Victoria Road North approximately 10:30 a.m. when he clocked a BMW travelling 114 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

A 47-year-old man is charged with stunt driving and speeding. His driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, residents convicted of stunt driving face minimum licence suspensions of one year, minimum fines of $2,000, six demerit points and could face up to six months in jail.
