A Guelph male who allegedly broke into a residence and then texted the owner to tell them was arrested Wednesday night.

Approximately 7:30 p.m. the male arrived at a residence in the area of College Avenue West and Scottsdale Drive. The tenant, who is known to the male, was not home so the male entered the residence through an insecure window and removed a turtle tank from the livingroom, report Guelph police.

Police were contacted after the victim received several texts from the male informing her of the break and enter. The male was later located at an address on Silvercreek Parkway North and arrested.

A 26-year-old Guelph male is charged with break, enter and theft. He will appear in a Guelph court Dec. 7.
