Guelph police are investigating after a business was entered early Monday and the involved vehicle abandoned a short distance away.

Just before 2 a.m. the owner of a business on Speedvale Avenue East near Stevenson Street North contacted police to advise of an alarm going off at the business. Police arrived a few minutes later to find a window smashed and some property strewn about.

Security video revealed a grey pickup arriving at the business about 1:39 a.m. Two parties from the truck approached the business and smashed the window with a hammer. The first is described as a Caucasian male, heavyset and wearing a beige or grey hoodie with large logo on the front and a black ski mask. The second suspect, believed to be a female, had a smaller build and was wearing all dark clothing and a black facemask.

A short time after the burglary, police were called to a nearby residential street where the involved pickup had been left running. It is believed the truck was stolen.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Carson Skipper at 519-824-1212, ext. 7283, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip at www.csgw.tips.
