Car demolished after hitting tree, driver takes off

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a male crashed and then ran away from a motor vehicle Tuesday evening.

Approximately 11:45 p.m. police were notified of a single-vehicle collision at Ironwood Road and Reid Court in which a Chevrolet Avalanche had gone off the road and struck a tree. The motor vehicle was demolished. A witness to the collision observed a male get out of the vehicle and run westbound on Ironwood Road.

Police were unable to locate the male, who was described as wearing a grey hoodie, black pants and a baseball cap.
