Charges laid in smashed police cruiser incident

The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police have made two arrests following the execution of a warrant at an address in Kincardine in regards to a Nov. 7, 2018 incident where officers were struck by a motor vehicle that fled a R.I.D.E. program and failed to remain at the scene after colliding with a police cruiser.

Following a thorough investigation 37-year-old Michael Kidd of Saugeen Shores has been charged with:

  • Obstruct police officer
  • Personation with intent to avoid arrest
  • Assault peace officer with a weapon x2
  • Dangerous operation
  • Flight while pursued by peace officer
  • Fail to stop at scene of accident

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada as well as drive while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Thirty-two-year-old Sarah Jane Posthumus of Arran-Elderslie has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Fail to comply with probation order x2
  • Fail to comply with recognizance

Both were held in custody for a bail hearing.
