TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON - On March 21, 2018, at approximately 4 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Wellington Road 8, west of Sideroad 18, near Drayton.

Initial reports indicated a six-year-old girl suffered moderate, non-life-threatening injuries when stuck by a sedan. The child was crossing the highway after exiting off a school bus.

Mapleton Fire/Rescue along with Guelph Wellington Paramedics Service attended the scene and roadway is currently closed. The child has been transported to local hospital and her parents have been notified.

OPP have multiple eye witnesses and all drivers remain at scene. OPP are investigating and charges may be pending.
