On Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at approximately 8:50 a.m., a 9-year-old male was crossing Grange Road at Watson Parkway North. He was riding his bicycle in the crosswalk facing a green traffic signal.

As he entered the crosswalk he was struck by a Honda CRV that was travelling westbound on Grange Road and is alleged to have disobeyed a red traffic signal at Watson Parkway North.

The child sustained abrasions to his legs but did not require transport to hospital. His bicycle was also damaged by the impact.

A 70-year-old Guelph female has been charged with red light-fail to stop and will be appearing in Guelph Provincial Offences Court in October.
