A 32-year-old Fergus man found passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle Saturday has been charged with operation while impaired by drugs.

Guelph Police say that Saturday at 1:22 p.m. a concerned citizen contacted them regarding a possible impaired driver. At 1:27 p.m., police arrived at the scene, spoke with the man and he was subsequently arrested.

The man was transported to the Guelph General Hospital as a preventative measure due to concerns for a potential drug overdose.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s license plates had been cancelled.

He was charged with:
- Operation of a conveyance while impaired by drugs
- Use plate not in accordance with act

His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He will appear in court on Feb. 9.
