Citizen tip leads to impaired charges for Guelph driver

Police received a call about a possible impaired driver leaving a licensed establishment in the Silvercreek Parkway area

On Nov. 16, 2018 at approximately 3:06 a.m., Guelph Police received a call from an alert citizen about a possible impaired driver leaving a licensed establishment in the area of Silvercreek Parkway.

Police located the vehicle in the area of Silvercreek Parkway and Willow Road and spoke with the male driver. A roadside screening device was administered and the male was arrested for over 80. Medhanie Tewelde, a 33-year-old Guelph male was also charged with novice driver - BAC above zero.

Tewelde is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30, 2018.
