Crash involving three vehicles leads to impaired charges for one driver

On Nov. 12, 2021, at approximately 5:55 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on Brock Road involving three motor vehicles.

Officers spoke with the involved drivers and determined that one of the involved drivers' ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired and they were placed under arrest.

As a result, Matthew McBride, 49 years old of Guelph has been charged with operation while impaired - 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code. 

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
