A Guelph man was taken to a Hamilton trauma centre after crashing his bicycle into two stopped vehicles Sunday afternoon, Guelph police report.

Approximately 4:20 p.m., emergency services were called to the intersection of Wyndham Street South and Wellington Street East. Investigation showed a cyclist was southbound on Wyndham Street at a high rate of speed when he entered the intersection against a red light. Motorists did not proceed on their green light as they had observed the cyclist.

The cyclist was ejected from his bike when he struck one stationary vehicle. The male and his bicycle were both thrown in the air and both struck the second vehicle.

The cyclist, a 61-year-old Guelph male, was transported to hospital and then transferred to a Hamilton trauma centre for further treatment. He was charged with failing to stop for a red light. No other physical injuries were reported.
