A Guelph man faces a criminal charge after allegedly disobeying the signals on a stopped school bus and nearly striking children and parents.
On Oct. 14, the police learned a school bus was stopped on Chesterton Lane with its flashing lights activated and an eight-foot arm extending from the front of the bus. A motorist turned into a private driveway in front of the bus’s location, coming so close he struck and pushed through the arm and nearly struck children exiting the bus and parents waiting on the sidewalk.
When the bus driver sounded their horn the man allegedly responded with an obscene gesture.
Following an investigation by the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit, a 68-year-old Guelph man was arrested Tuesday and charged with dangerous driving. He will appear in a Guelph court Dec. 6.
