TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON - At approximately 8 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a serious two-vehicle collision at Concession 16 and Sideroad 15, Mapleton. Reports indicate that a pickup truck with three occupants collided with another pickup truck with a lone occupant. The lone occupant, a 43-year-old male from Palmerston, was transported by ambulance but pronounced dead at a local hospital. Two passengers in the second vehicle suffered serious injuries and were transport by Ornge ambulance to a trauma centre.
Wellington County OPP has identified the deceased as 43-year-old Darren James More of Palmerston.
The two transported by air ambulance remain in hospital and are reported to be in critical condition.
The road has been reopened.
