Dive team called to search for missing swimmer in Lake Belwood

Two men were swimming and appeared in distress; one was rescued by another boater

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On July 29, 2018 at approximately 4 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a water rescue on Lake Belwood. It was reported that two men were swimming and then appeared in distress. One male was rescued by another boater and rushed to a local hospital. The second male, a 31-year-old Brampton man, did not resurface.

OPP, Centre Wellington Fire Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Service attended and searched for the missing man. Efforts to locate the missing male concluded at dusk but will resume at dawn. The OPP Dive Team has been called in and is expected to assist with recovery efforts.

OPP are asking for the public's assistance by remaining clear of efforts.
