A Guelph male has been charged with mischief over $5,000 in a four-year-old case that saw an ATM extensively damaged.

In February 2017, a male entered a financial institution on Stone Road West and attempted to gain access to the ATM. He was unable to gain access but caused more than $5,500 in damage.

Fingerprints lifted from the damaged machine were submitted to the national Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), and in February 2020 Guelph Police was notified of a match. The male was further identified through a distinctive tattoo visible in the surveillance footage.

He will appear in bail court Tuesday.
